Fractal Video performance art
At the ‘Squash and Stretch Performance Art festival, Headington Hall, Oxford. May 2018
The ‘Squash & Stretch’ Performance Art Festival was organised by Veronica Cordova de la Rosa and Peta Lloyd at Headington Hall, part of Oxford Brookes University which included performance artists from around the country – program link here.
I used the fractal video projection system, a concept which is like a video feedback loop and except that the image is multiplied exponentially with duplicate video feeds, in this case from multiple cameras fed through a video mixing deck. This had been used at the Psychedelic Circus, but instead of being behind the cameras and moving them to create the fractal effects, I was inside the screen. The screen was made of a large sheet of flexible spandex, and by playing with the lights and stretching the screen I was able to create the fractal effects by modifying the screen’s geometry.
